Mandera County Assembly members exchange blows
There was drama at Mandera County Assembly (MCA) after members from two different parties exchanged blows over the rejection of County Executive Committee nominees.
The MCAâs from Jubilee and Economic Freedom party could not agree over the 10 County executive nominees who had been appointed by Governor Ali Roba and resulted to physical confrontation to solve their differences.
MCAâs allied to the Economic Freedom party outsmarted their Jubilee counterpart and rejected the names which a week earlier had undergone vetting process.
The turn of event angered the Jubilee MCAâs who resulted to blowing whistles at the chambers before a physical confrontation followed.
The ugly scenes the assembly forced l ocals to take to the streets to protest what they termed as endless and petty politics by the MCAâs.
In Tana River, area Governor Dhadho Godhana suffered a major blow when the local County Assembly rejected all his nominees to the County Executive Committee.
The County Assembly Committee on Appointments threw out the list of seven nominees on the grounds that some had not been placed in dockets of their speciality while others had potential conflicts of interest.Also Read Kenyans ready for repeat elections, says Uhuru
In Kiambu, Governor Ferdinand Waititu has put on notice his executive over failure to deliver to the Kiambu electorate. Waititu said the County will not tolerate any underperforming executive.
The Homa bay County Assembly has in the meantime passed the People assembly motion as called upon by NASA coalition.
Elsewhere, Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has called on the Kuria community to report gangsters who terrorize the locals.
Marwa who was addressing the residents of Ntimaru market in Kuria during the launch of the Last Mile project funded by the World Bank called on residents to work closely with security agents to curb crime.
