Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has refuted claims by some Ward Representatives on the increasing powers of East Africa Legislative Assembly (Eala) MP Simon Mbugua at City Hall.

Nairobi MCAs had on Tuesday accused Mr Mbugua of running the show at City Hall since the resignation of deputy governor Polycarp Igathe last month.

They adjourned normal business at the County Assembly on Wednesday to discuss the conduct of Mr Mbugua.

Mr Mbugua is a former Kamukunji MP.

However in a rebuttal, Governor Son ko said he had not delegated any duties to anyone and accused the Ward Representatives were being used by cartels to undermine his leadership.

“I have learnt that some cartels have now started fighting back after I sealed all corruption loopholes at City Hall. The few individuals who wants to interfere with my leadership style have now approached some MCAs and started engaging them in ill-motives,” said Governor Sonko on Wednesday.

He said those who want to fight him using the MCAs will not succeed.

“I want to categorically state that they have no room of corruption under my watch and they cannot divide us,” he stated.
