A conman who has been soliciting money from MPs by sending them nude photos is closely related to Murangâa woman representative Sabina Chege, detectives have said.
According to Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, the suspect has a "special relationship" with Chege.
The MP is among a group of lawmakers who complained on the floor of the House last week that they were being blackmailed by a conman who was using her mobile phone number.
Chege said she knew the suspect but the police were reluctant to move in and arrest him.
The National Assembly security committee on Thursday went into private session after Kinoti said he could not divulge further information on the matter in the full glare of the media.

Kinoti on Tuesday promised the committee that he would, in 24 hours, arrest individuals who have been sending the said nude photos and conning MPs.
He disclosed that some of those behind cyberbullying are "powerful individuals" hence sought protection of investigating officers.
"Have confidence in us. We have the capacity to deal with these matters. Some of the sponsors of the crimes are among us," Kinoti said.
"We will act. Thatâs what Iâm promising," he told the Paul Koinange-led team at Continental House, Nairobi.
