Gideon Moi picks war with Ruto again
Deputy President William Ruto should support proposed constitutional changes or quit from politics, Gideon Moi has said.
In a number of his functions, Ruto has dismissed calls to amend the constitution claiming that it would be a waste of development time.
"We cannot change the constitution just barely a year after polls. More importantly, we cannot do that just to create positions for people," he had said.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga is reportedly pushing for introduction of parliamentary system of government, a move that could subject the country to another referendum.
Without directly mentioning Ruto, the Baringo senator on Saturday backed the referendum calls adding that those opposed to the move should quit.
"I am fully supporting the handshake. As a country, if the government structure is the problem, we are ready to amend the constitution. Those opposing should ins tead quit from politics," he said.
Both Ruto and Moi are keen to succeed Presdent Uhuru Kenyatta whose term expires in 2022 elections.
A fortnight ago, Ruto accused the young Moi of allegedly blocking his way to meet retired President Daniel Moi.
