Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri has said he will not resign over the multi-billion maize scandal .

Kiunjuri said he has been investigating the National Cereals and Produce Board after realising that something was wrong.

The CS said will present an audit report to the EACC, DPP and the national assembly on Monday for appropriate action to be taken.

"I have done my part and I will not allow anybody to intimidate me," he said.

"Those people who are making noise have been elected to represent the interests of Kenyans who suffer when fertilisers are stolen or when they cannot sell their maize," Kiunjuri said.

He wondered why political leaders have been claiming that the government is not going after the big fish yet the general manager of the board among other members of management have been interdicted.

"We will sack them all. Every community has leaders of integrity that can replace those who want to run down government institutions. They will all be replaced with those who can work," he said.

"I am a politician, trader and former teacher. I don’t know why they think they can intimidate me into not doing the work that I have been appointed to do," Kiunjuri added.

A section of MPs have asked Kiunjuri to resign over the multi-billion maize scandal that has rocked the cereals board where several traders were paid Sh. 1.9 billion for delivery of maize while thousands of local farmers were stuck with their produce.

Five top managers of the board have been sacked while 59 other officials are being investigated over the scandal.
