Wife to Garden City mall boss found dead in Muthangari home
- Coulson, a citizen of the United Kingdom, had taken their children to school

The wife to Garden City Director, James Coulson, has died.
Forty three-year-old Hernandez Atehortua Maria, a Colombian, allegedly took her own life on the morning of Wednesday, May 16, at her home in Muthangari, Nairobi.

Reports reaching TUKO.co.ke on Thursday, May 17, indicated Maria ended her life inside their house at Muhoya Gardens at around 7.30 am.
Her 47-year-old husband, a British citizen, had reportedly left the house shortly to escort their children to school.

When Coulson returned, about 15 minutes later, he did not find Maria where he left her.
He however noticed a few moments later that she was in the bathroom, except she overstayed there, prompting him go and check what was going on.
On realising there was no response from inside the bathroom, Coulson used a s pare key to open the door and found his wife hanging on a rope tied around her neck.

Coulson immediately called Bhogal, their private doctor, who confirmed Maria was already dead.
Police officer visited the scene moments later and moved the body to Lee Funeral home where TUKO.co.ke understands it is awaiting postmortem.
Both the police and the husband said the deceased never left any suicide note.
The husband and his neighbours told the police Maria had been suffering from depression for a long time.
Some believed mental illness could have driven her to end her life.

Coulson however clarified Maria had never made any attempt to take away her life before nor confided in a friend or family member that she was plan ning to do so.
Detectives marked the bathroom as a potential crime scene as investigation kicked off.
